learning ENGLISH and ITALIAN

connecting two languages

About Me

I'm an Italian teacher of English as a Foreign Language and Teacher Trainer living in Bergamo, a nice historic town in Northern Italy, not far from Milan.

I have been working with languages since 1981, after getting a Diploma for Interpreters and Translators from Scuola Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori in Milan (now Scuola Superiore per Mediatori Linguistici Carlo Bo). Some years later I got a university degree in Modern Foreign Languages from Istituto Universitario di Lingue Moderne (IULM), Milan.

Since 2013 I have been working as a tutor coordinator for EFL Trainee Teachers and Learning Technologies Lecturer at the University of Bergamo and I have been involved as a Teacher Trainer in the Regional Research and Training Project 'Generazione Web Lombardia', called "Are you connected? Classrooms without Walls".

This project is aimed to train high school teachers and disseminate mobile learning and learning technologies best practices in digital and 2.0 high school classes in Lombardy (Northern Italy).

As an English teacher I like making projects between learners of  English and learners of Italian, so that they can share their language skills. These are the cultural institutions I have recently made projects with:

Belmont High School - Geelong, Victoria - Australia

University of Oregon - Department of Italian Studies

(see the project here)

Patrick Henry High School - San Diego

Harvard University - Boston

High School New Rochelle

You can see further activities for EFL and Italian/English language tandem projects in my students' wikispaces: (1)  (2) (3)

In November 2010 my online tandem project 'Learning English and Italian' won 'Sirio Di Giuliomaria Award' given by TESOL-Italy.

For some years I have been working with publishing houses in Italy and have produced the following multimedia material and books:

CHANGE UP (Pre-Intermediate Workout Book)

TEAM UP IN ENGLISH - Flip-book Teaching Guide

Plain Sailing - CD-ROM

Gateway to Commerce - CD-ROM
